The initial sign in page of YouTube tells me that I can sign in to YouTube using my Google or YouTube account. Clear enough. But you can’t sign in even if you have a valid Google account but not the other. It will ask you if you already have a YouTube account (well, no…, I thought I could sign-in with my Google account… ), if not it asks you to create one.
I went back and forth to see if I’ve misread anything. I didn’t. The sign in page simply says I can use either account to sign into YouTube. This turns out to be a very misleading statement. I’m guessing the ‘either-or’ sign-in only works if you already have both accounts and already have linked them together. But nowhere on the sign-in page says this. They just assume that everyone already knows how this works (if that’s how it works). Well, apart from how it really works, the fact is, I have a valid Google account and I could not sign into YouTube like the statement on the sign in page suggests. Be more clear guys.
well most people who do not have youtube account will clcik ‘create account’ rather than ‘signin’
Somewhat true. But new users who are compelled to “Comment” or “Reply to Comment” click on those buttons immediately rather than search for a Create Account option. And guess where that takes you.
